50 Years of Love!

Today my card is for a friend of my Mum, Mary, who is soon to be celebrating her Golden Wedding Anniversary-that is 50 years!! I will be 89 by the time Callum and I are celebrating our Golden Wedding Anniversary-lets hope we are both still here to enjoy it!!

It seemed to be the 'right' time to be making an Anniversary card as here on London we are all preparing for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. So in a way I am flying the flag today!

I have been struggling with this card as I do love my CAS cards but knew that Mary would probably like a bit more of a fancy card. So a challenge this was!

I have been looking through sketches for a few days now. Finally I saw one today on Try Stamping on Tuesday  and ideas popped into my head. I hunted through my stash, found a few golden heart charms, some golden twine and gorgeous cream ribbon. I die cut a golden heart and a smaller heart from golden glitter paper-layered them plus a few extra bits and bobs to fancy it up. I am happy with it and really I think it is not too far from my CAS style just with a few twists for Mary!!

I will also enter this into the 'Anniversary' challenge on Anything Challenge and the 'die cut' challenge on House of Gilli

Thanks for stopping by x

What do Dads do???

Well lots of things....some the same for all of us and some unique to just us. BUT what my Dad for does for me is...........make this world a better place!

And my card today is for my Dad. It will be for Father's Day and when I saw the challenge of using designer paper to make a masculine CAS card on Cas-ual Fridays, I thought this was a great opportunity to design a card in the style I love, using my new stampin' up paper (purchased as I loved the retro masculine feel to the designs). However this proved to be a real challenge for me until I re-looked at Case Study challenge card this week by Agnieszka that I mentioned yesterday. And suddenly the idea came into my head!

I did have trouble cutting out the letters-all hand done!! That was Sunday afternoon sorted, whilst hubby worked on his new music track, in our combined 'creative room' ( our spare bedroom!)

The sentiment, again from Create with TLC, is so perfect for my Dad.

And just so you can see the sentiment more clearly-here it is:

Enjoy the rest of your weekend x

Magic Mothers

Hello again,

Just back from sunny Cyprus. 2 weeks of real chill time, a chance to re-charge the batteries.

Just a quick photo of hubby and me enjoying the sun before I move onto my card for today:

To be honest I thought I would come home full of crafting inspiration after 2 weeks but somehow my mojo decided to go MIA on my return!

I have had a sentiment for a whole from Create with TLC that I have been keeping for my Mum's Birthday next Thursday but I was so keen to make a gorgeous card for her that I think I got 'crafter's block'.

However I have had a few nudges from some of my favourite sites over the last few days.....Case Study's card this week started the nudge as Agnieszka's card was a card for Mothers day. I think I saw this as a sign to get going with this card. And I checked out Retro Sketches challenge this week and loved the sketch......so inspiration finally back and here is what I came up with:

I have embossed the cream background card and sentiment card with the woodgrain papertreyink impression plate and decided to add some bright pink ribbon and gems for contrast. And just curved the bottom edges of the card as I do love this look.

I love this sentiment and think it says it all about Mums and naturally I believe it is more than true for my very special and much loved Mum. Hope she likes it.

And hopefully I will get back into doing some more cards this week...........so see you then x

Feeling under the weather?

Today is a first for me..........my first 'Get Well Soon' card. I guess it is a good thing that I have not had to make a card like this before. Actually this card is not for anyone in particular but will be kept in the 'you never know when you might need it' box.

I was inspired to make this card when I was checking out a passion for papertrey challenge site. The theme was 'under the weather' using a PTI product. And as I am now a proud owner of a few of their impression plates I had to have a shot at this challenge.
I used the woodgrain PTI plate and my new sizzix cloud dies to come up with this design:

Inside I have stamped 'Get well soon'. I rounded off all the edges to fit in with the curved cloud theme and the woodgrain is meant to reflect the streaks in the sky.........artist interpretation-right??

I am pre-scheduling this as I am on hols and I really hope I am not seeing clouds in the sky today, just blue sky and sunshine x

Fashion Fades............

But style remains the same!

How true and and as each year goes by this becomes more important. We have to remember being 40+ in a mini skirt may no longer cut it (she says after just packing a little denim mini skirt......holidays don't count-right???).

My card today was inspired by Aga's case card for this weeks Case Study challenge.

There was quite a few things about Aga's card that inspired me but the main reason I wanted to 'case' this card was the use of the patterned background combined with the bold colours. I kept with the basic layout and used this funky paper that is probably more fashion than style!!. This digi sentiment from Create with TLC.  I have had this sentiment for a while because I wanted to use it for my sister-in-law, Linda. Her Birthday is in June....now she is a woman who has heaps of stlye!

And here is Aga's inspiration card:

Well I am off on hols tomorrow night and have so far only managed to pre-schedule one post. If the final packing goes well I may make another card tomorrow but if not, I will be MIA until the end of May-see you then! xx

Another Wedding!

Well today I have another Wedding card to share however this card was a challenge. It really pushed me outside my comfort zone. I was asked to make a card for a couple to include their names, date of the Wedding and to reflect the work that they do. There names are Andy and Paula, they get married on the 9th June this year and one is in the Fire Service and one sales car-easy heh!!

I saw the challenge at retro sketches and was inspired by the this weeks sketch, so I had a starting point.

I found this spec a challenge but got around the problem of their jobs by using a car licence plate to reflect their jobs and the stamp I used from 'stampology' gave me the opportunity to put in the Wedding date and their names. Boy this was fiddly and did take quite a few goes to get everything in place.

Also I found this a challenge because a licence plate doesn't feel like it should be on a wedding card to me-so to satisfy my desire to make it 'feel' right to me I embossed cream card using another one of my new impression plates from papertrey ink, added a cream ribbon, wedding bells and gems from my stash.

And in the end I love the card and am quite chuffed with myself!!

See what you think...........

And I will also enter this into the 'Wedding' challenge at a new site I have discovered fashionista. Check this site out as they have a unique way of organising their challenges.

Have a great day x

Happy Birthday

Today is cas-ual fridays first Birthday plus it is the first week that my cousin Lynn joins the DT. So 2 good reasons to join in the fun!

This week the challenge was to make a Happy Birthday CAS card. This gave me an opportunity to try out my new Linen Impression embossing plate from papertrey ink. I have for a long time admired the cards Lynn makes with this plate and now I have my own. I love the subtle texture it adds to a card and it is perfect for a CAS card. So I stamped the sentiment and little candles. I used promakers to colour the candles and as this card is for a guy I used strong, vibrant colours. Then I used the impression plate, rounded the corners and there you have it!

It is hard to see the linen effect on the card but it is raining here and I couldn't get the right light to take the photo-I am afraid the photo does not do it justice........it looks better in real life (really!!)

I will also enter this into the 'texture' challenge at cards for men and the 'embossing' challenge at My Mums Craft Shop

Well the weekend is nearly here and as I am off on hols on Tuesday night I think I had better get some organising done. I have not done anything yet. I do hope to do a bit of crafting-fingers crossed.....it might help relax me and calm me when I am in panic mode!!

Runway Inspired

Just popping in to share my card today for this week challenge at Runway Inspired. Here is this week inspirational fashion photo-you have to love Christian Dior!!

I was immediately drawn to the pattern on her top and I have some new paper from stampin up that I thought was perfect for this. Also when I saw Christina's card from Runway's design team I loved her idea of the belt at the waist as an accent to the outfit. So I went with this and used a few strips of ribbon to split up my gorgeous patterned paper.

I have been doing quite a few CAS cards recently so this was a change and I just love the richness of the colours and how they blend together. And here we are:

Hope you like it and have a good day x

Happy May Day

Can you believe it is May already?? It'll be Xmas card making time before we know it!

Today I tried my new Woodgrain impression plate from Papertrey ink.  I have seen lots of you crafting bloggers use this woodgrain plate and have always loved it and finally I have my own (thanks to coz Lynn).

I was inspired by the gorgeous butterfly on Laurie Schmidlin's card for Case Study this week. I did my own CAS interpretation of Laurie's card and used the colours on the challenge this week at The Play Date Cafe:

I stamped the butterfly (wild rose stamp), cut it out and just attached it to the ribbon and added a little gem.

And to finish a photo of me and my cousin Lynn when she came to visit me last week-this is before the big girlie shop. I am sure many of you will know recognise and know Lynn from the crafting world!
